Cabo de Hornos National Park is located in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctic Region, 12 hours away from Puerto Williams. It was created on April 26, 1945 by D.S Nº995 of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The unit stands out for the protection of fauna species such as the leopard seal, dolphins, whales, sea lions, chungungo, elephant seal, southern dolphin and Chilean dolphin. Among the birds are the Dominican gull and giant petrel. As for flora, there is the coigüe de Magallanes, cinnamon, leñadura and ñirre.

Services

It has a small dock for boats that allows people to disembark on Hornos Island. From this place a pedestrian walkway extends that goes into the island until it reaches the highest point, where the Hornos Lighthouse and the southernmost Mayor’s Office in the world are located.

Access

It can be accessed by sea or by air from Punta Arenas to Puerto Williams, from where you can access the Park in private boats. Or from Punta Arenas with companies that make programmed trips through pre-established tourist circuits for navigation and that consider a landing on Hornos Island.
